Deposit vs No-Deposit Car Rental
Understand holds, excess and what ‘no deposit’ actually covers.
How rental deposits work in Turkey, what ‘no deposit’ can mean, and questions to ask before you book.
Why deposits exist
Many firms authorise a card hold against damage/fuel. Amounts vary by vehicle class.
No-deposit offers
Local companies sometimes advertise no cash deposit — clarify insurance excess, banned uses and fuel rules in writing.
Yoldaş tip
Ask WhatsApp for the exact deposit/insurance terms for your dates before arrival.
Deposit vs insurance excess
Many travellers mix up a deposit (money blocked on your card as security) with the insurance excess (deductible — the maximum you may pay on an insured claim). At airport desks in Turkey, pre-authorisations of €500–€2,000 are common even when adverts mention a “small deposit”. Ask when the hold is released and whether fuel, fines or damage can extend it.
What no deposit means at Yoldaş
At our Mahmutlar office and across Alanya we do not take a cash deposit and we do not require a credit-card block for a deposit. Standard rent-a-car insurance is included with a maximum liability cap of €1,000 on cars and €1,500 on minibuses such as the Mercedes Vito — that is an excess limit, not an upfront charge on every rental. Optional full Kasko can remove the deductible on covered accident damage. Details: rental terms, insurance guide, Gazipaşa (GZP) pickup.
Rent without a credit card
Cash in EUR or TRY is accepted; a credit card is not required. That suits guests who do not want a card limit tied up for the whole holiday — but you still need a valid licence (minimum 25 years, 3 years held), ID or passport, and you must accept the insurance excess rules in the contract.
